That gives two useful interpretive threads: how different railway systems worked and how difficult terrain shaped engineering. A restored vehicle, model and historical photograph are different kinds of evidence; the collection should not be treated simply as a backdrop for boarding a tourist train.

Build a route that ends at the right place

Confirm the museum entrance and operating galleries before traveling to the North Railway Station area. Follow the railway-history display first and add rolling-stock spaces only where staff allow.

Use the museum in the Beijing Road/Kunming North Station area, then confirm the public entrance and currently open vehicle/display sections. A named alternative when the plan changes

If a vehicle section closes, decide whether the confirmed history galleries still provide the visit you want. Yunnan Provincial Museum is a named indoor collection alternative with independent admission; Kunming Old Street offers a different public architecture route in suitable weather. If the whole museum is unavailable, move the specialist railway visit rather than following tracks or entering fenced station property to see similar equipment. Keep the actual onward train station and its transfer buffer separate from the museum outing.
