Practical notes for Beijing

  • Admission rules are venue-specific. The Palace Museum, National Museum and Memorial Hall require their own arrangements. A Square booking does not admit you to them; some eligible same-day venue bookings can facilitate morning/afternoon Square access. Read the Square guide for the exception and the separate flag-ceremony requirement.
  • Ticket products differ. Great Wall entry, transport, shuttles, cableways and night sessions are not automatically interchangeable. Read the exact product and date rules.
  • Find the visitor entrance. Some listed addresses are offices or larger scenic areas. Check the venue’s arrival instructions before setting off, especially on a page marked Basic details.
  • Keep a fallback. Closures, security controls, weather and failed document checks can change a day. Each full guide includes alternatives and Chinese help text.
