Why this place matters
Hongyan interprets the wartime Communist presence in Chongqing through a specific museum and historic-site context. It should not be confused with every site promoted under the wider Hongyan heritage network.
A selective route
Allow 2–3 hours before transport and queues. This is an editorial allowance. Confirm the exact address and component, read the wartime chronology and then visit its associated grounds. If adding another Hongyan site, calculate the transfer separately rather than assuming it lies inside the same campus.
Tickets, branches and passport questions
The umbrella memorial network includes distinct sites with independent controls. A booking for one address does not establish access to another museum, former residence or detention-site memorial.
The official directory establishes identity and rating, not live admission. Current prices, hours, last entry, release timing and the foreign-passport workflow remain unknown unless a separately cited venue notice establishes them. Confirm the exact product, carry the original booking passport and keep the order offline. If the form only accepts a Chinese identity card, ask the venue about an assisted channel before travelling; walk-up capacity is unconfirmed.
A useful fallback
If one component is closed, ask the institution which separately managed site is open and what admission it requires. Keep another confirmed local visit rather than crossing the city on a vague umbrella name.
Use the Chinese questions below to confirm today’s entrance, closures and ticket coverage. They request information; they do not imply that staff have already approved an exception.
Look more closely
-
Read the wartime chronology before connecting it to the particular historic building you have actually entered.
-
Distinguish the Hongyan village site from other revolutionary memorial addresses elsewhere in the metropolitan area.
-
Use the exhibition to understand political organization and wartime conditions rather than collecting photographs of unrelated memorial gates.
A named alternative
Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum (重庆中国三峡博物馆) is a specific option for a rearranged chongqing day. It is an independently admitted wartime-and-regional-history alternative when the desired Hongyan component closes. Check that institution or area’s own admission before moving: the suggested alternative is a separate visit, not an exchange promised by your original ticket. Keep the transfer and its last entry in the decision rather than leaving the first venue too late.
Offline fallback card
- If one component is closed, ask the institution which separately managed site is open and what admission it requires. Keep another confirmed local visit rather than crossing the city on a vague umbrella name.
- If a real-name form rejects the passport, contact the official venue for its current assisted channel; do not enter a fabricated Chinese identity number or rely on an unrelated venue reservation.
