A realistic route

Allow 5–6 hours as an editorial planning estimate, with extra time for travel, security and queues. Prioritize the West Hill caves and major open sculptural groups, then cross to East Hill only if the operating route, time and energy permit.

Choose your focus before arrival

The official visitor notice specifies the daytime sequence West Hill Grottoes → East Hill Grottoes → Xiangshan Temple → Bai Garden, with four ticket checks on a single-direction route. Carry the ticket and booked document throughout rather than assuming the first scan completes admission. The published night product opens only West Hill and Xiangshan Temple, so it is not an interchangeable way to cover all four daytime components. For a focused art visit, compare an open Northern Wei cave such as Binyang with the Tang-period sculpture at Fengxian Temple, rather than trying to examine every niche. The official pages display inconsistent closing-time rows; confirm the date-specific notice instead of relying on one static hour. Passport-specific validation remains unconfirmed.

The admission boundary

Booking and a foreign passport
