A specific route

Chengyi Science Exploration Center was renamed Xiamen Chengyi Nature Discovery Museum in July 2026. The provincial reopening report confirms that the renewed venue opened on July 3; the culture department still uses the new name in October. The old seven-zone description should therefore not guide a new visit. The July account instead names Color Explosion, Hundred Tales About Eating, Big Cats Small Cats and Crazy Tribe, combining natural-history material with participatory displays. Big Cats Small Cats was a special exhibition, so verify its current run rather than treating it as a permanent gallery.

Select the main exhibit zones suitable for your group, then add a confirmed activity only when its session fits. Keep travel from the island outside the visit estimate.

Entry and component boundaries

For an editorial two-and-a-half to four-hour family visit, begin with the current floor plan and choose one object-focused section and one interactive section. Color or food themes offer a different pace from a densely scheduled attempt to do every activity. Leave time for queues, rest and a final revisit to something that interested the child. An interactive title does not mean every installation suits every age, height or mobility need, and a reopening report does not establish that a ticket includes all workshops, cinema sessions or bookable experiences. Ask for those boundaries before purchasing an add-on or selecting a timed activity.

General exhibits, special shows, workshops and premium experiences may use different tickets or age limits.

If access or weather changes

Use the new Chinese name, 厦门诚毅自然探索馆, when asking drivers or service staff, while recognizing that older maps may retain the science-center name. This is a Jimei outing, not a room inside the school village or Garden Expo. It can replace a wet outdoor half day if admission is available, but no current official passport-specific reservation workflow, release clock or universal package price was established in the accessed sources. If tickets fail, the Garden Expo’s ordinary grounds are a nearby-district outdoor alternative when weather permits; the main Xiamen Museum is an independent indoor option on Xiamen Island, requiring a separate transfer.

Allow 3–4 hours plus transfer for the stated focus; the route is an editorial planning estimate, with separate district/county transfers outside that allowance.
