Local collections provide a useful context day before the island’s architectural and coastal walks. The main venue and any branches must be distinguished.

A specific route

The main Xiamen Museum is at the Culture and Art Center, 95 Tiyu Road, on Xiamen Island. It should not be confused with the museum’s historical origin in Gulangyu’s Bagua Building or with present-day island collections. The official collection profile identifies Xiamen history, ancient Fujian-Taiwan stone sculpture and folk culture as useful themes. For an editorial two-to-three-hour first visit, start with the local-history sequence, select the stone sculpture or folk-culture material according to your interests, and leave a small allowance for a current temporary exhibition. This gives a clearer regional introduction than racing through every room.

Confirm the exact museum building, start with permanent local-history galleries and select one temporary display if open.

Entry and component boundaries

The institution’s official branch information distinguishes the Zheng Chenggong Memorial at 73 Yongchun Road on Gulangyu and the Special Economic Zone Memorial at 23 Xinglong Road in Huli. Those addresses create real transport boundaries: the Gulangyu branch requires an island journey, while the special-economic-zone venue is another mainland-side destination. Main-campus access does not establish a branch reservation or ferry inclusion. Official indexed guidance advertises free admission and a Monday closure for the main museum, but free entry alone does not prove that no registration is required. The current foreign-passport transaction, special-exhibition rules and holiday exceptions were not verified.

General collection entry, branches, temporary exhibitions and activities may have separate bookings.

If access or weather changes

Use the Tiyu Road address when arranging an indoor alternative to a wet coast or canceled ferry. Before leaving, confirm that the main campus is open on your intended day and ask how an overseas visitor should enter if the online form offers only a mainland identity number. Bring the original document and the Chinese venue address; an unrelated branch’s entrance procedure should not be copied across. If the main museum is closed, do not make an unplanned ferry trip expecting the Zheng Chenggong Memorial to be interchangeable. A separately confirmed Chengyi visit provides a different indoor subject, but it is across the water in Jimei and requires a substantial independent transfer.

Allow 2–3 hours for the stated focus; the route is an editorial planning estimate, with separate district/county transfers outside that allowance.
