Time to allow
Leave roughly two hours for a tea stop and nearby walk, plus travel. A production or flower-field visit needs a separate confirmed block.
What you pay for
Check teas served, explanation, refills and per-person or table charges. Packaged leaves, a lesson and a production visit are separate purchases.
How to take part
Arrange a tasting with a named tea business. Flower-picking or scenting demonstrations depend on the operator and season; the September 2026 festival has ended.
Language & communication
Ask whether the actual tea host can explain in English or provide written notes. A festival’s international theme does not establish daily English service.

Taste the tea, then ask how it is made

Save 福州茉莉花茶 and 窨制, the scenting process. Fuzhou’s agriculture bureau explains jasmine tea through its combination of tea and flower fragrance. Ask a host to distinguish the tea base from the flowers used during scenting. A cup with visible flowers and a traditionally scented tea are not necessarily the same preparation; ask what you are actually being served.

Choose a tasting with clear contents

Ask which teas will be compared, how they differ, and whether explanation and refills are included. A simple pot can suit a relaxed neighborhood break, while a guided comparison needs a host and appointment. Check whether the charge is per person or for the table. You do not need to purchase a large package of leaves to justify asking basic questions during a paid session.

Treat production as a separate visit

Flower handling and scenting involve a production schedule. If that process is central to your interest, ask a named operator whether visitors may observe it on your date and which steps will actually be running. The reviewed September 4–7, 2026 tea festival included scenting displays, but that event is over. Its demonstration program does not create an everyday workshop in a city tea shop.

Buy by the labeled product

Ask for the net weight, tea base, stated origin or producer, harvest information and price of the package you select. Confirm that the leaves sold match what you tasted. Have the seller explain storage for the climate and length of your onward trip. Keep the label and receipt rather than relying on a verbal description of an unmarked bag.

Choose one easy neighborhood

请问这是什么茶坯?如何窨花?这次品茶包括讲解和续水吗?如果想看窨制,我的日期可以预约吗?这一包净重多少?

Ask about the base tea, scenting, service and package. Shangxiahang or Three Lanes and Seven Alleys can provide a separate public walk if the chosen business is nearby, but check the address first. If no host or production visit is available, choose an ordinary tea order and keep the rest of the day flexible.

See the Shangxiahang Historic District visitor guide for that separate place’s access and route, and compare the Fuzhou itinerary before deciding which visits to replace.

Use Shangxiahang as the day 3 neighborhood context if the chosen tea business is nearby. Check its address and shorten the other riverbank walk as needed.
