Choose one wine-culture setting
Save 黄酒, huangjiu, 中国黄酒博物馆 and 绍兴黄酒小镇. The museum and Dongpu’s Rice Wine Town are separate destinations. The town’s own site identifies its visitor setting, and local reporting describes a new tasting venue opening there in January 2026. An opening-day ceremony establishes a place and event, not a guaranteed daily tasting or brewing demonstration.
Taste with a stated purpose
Ask which wines will be compared, the sample size and whether the host explains the differences. Clarify whether the product is a short tasting, a guided visit or a meal with wine. If you prefer not to drink, ask about exhibition interpretation or a craft option before purchasing a tasting package. A bottle sale and a tasting seat should have clear separate terms unless explicitly bundled.
Check the craft before booking it
If a provider offers a decorated 花雕 jar activity, ask whether you paint a prepared surface, add decoration or make another object. A decorative jar session is different from participating in brewing. Confirm materials, drying, packing and collection, and whether the finished item is suitable to carry on your remaining trip. No daily open workshop is established merely by a cultural-tourism description.
Plan the route around the actual venue
A central wine museum can fit a different day from a half-day trip to Dongpu. Use the full venue address when comparing your itinerary; do not add both just because they share the subject of huangjiu. Arrange a return without driving if drinking. Current museum relocations and entry rules in the existing Shaoxing guides remain independent of your tasting appointment.
Ask for the whole appointment

Ask about location, samples, explanation and the jar project. Save the quote and cancellation terms. If no tasting or class is confirmed, choose the open collection or a short old-city visit after checking access. A festival performance, a shop opening and an everyday visitor service need different evidence; do not base a fixed appointment on the wrong kind of announcement.
