Time to allow
Leave about two hours for a small meal and selected Ziyang Street section. Add the journey to Linhai and any separate wall visit.
What you pay for
Ask per-piece, portion or bag prices and what the food actually contains. Street snacks, restaurant meals and city-wall admission are separate purchases.
How to take part
Choose shops operating on your date. Published food maps and planning documents identify the area but do not establish current menus or queue lengths.
Language & communication
Save 海苔饼, 乌饭麻糍 and 蛋清羊尾. The last is a named sweet, not a promise of a lamb dish; ask the actual ingredients.

Make Linhai the destination

Save 临海 and 紫阳街, Ziyang Street. This is part of the Taizhou edition in Zhejiang, not Taizhou in Jiangsu. Linhai’s official planning material maps food businesses and local specialties, while local reporting describes seaweed-cake queues. These identify a useful food setting, rather than a current recommendation for a fixed wait or price at a particular shop.

Choose two or three things at most

Names to recognize include 海苔饼, seaweed cakes, 乌饭麻糍, dark glutinous-rice cakes, and 蛋清羊尾, a named egg-white sweet. A literal translation of yangwei as lamb tail is not enough to understand that dish. Ask about the filling, oil, egg and other ingredients for the version actually sold. Start with one small portion and add after tasting.

Check the unit and the queue

A bakery may sell by piece or bag while another counter lists a complete portion. Ask whether there is a minimum purchase and how many pieces are included. Decide how much of your afternoon you want to spend waiting; a nearby operating business with a clear menu can be a better fit for your day. Old queue reports describe their reporting date, not your future visit.

Separate street eating from wall admission

The historic street, the Taizhou Prefecture City wall and other interiors have different entry conditions. A snack purchase does not include a wall ticket, and a wall reservation does not organize your meal. Choose a shorter wall route if food is the main interest and allow time to sit down. Keep shop entrances clear and use permitted seating rather than eating on steps needed by other visitors.

Ask and keep the return realistic

请问这个是什么馅?蛋清羊尾是甜点吗?按个还是按袋卖?可以只买一小份吗?一共多少钱?

Ask about fillings, the sweet’s identity, units and total. Check the transfer from Linhai to your actual accommodation before a late meal. If traveling by rail, confirm the station name and onward transport independently; the street name does not identify the station. If a shop has sold out, retain a shorter food walk instead of adding another county destination that evening.

See the Ziyang Street visitor guide for that separate place’s access and route, and compare the Taizhou itinerary before deciding which visits to replace.

Make room for it

Give the meal or market time of its own

Use the day 1 Linhai old-city route. Shorten the wall walk or another stop to make room for food, and keep the transfer from your Taizhou base in the timing.
