What to look for at Keyan Scenic Area

Quarry rock, waterside scenery and developed cultural precincts form a multi-part destination. Keyan, Jianhu and Luzhen should be checked as named components.

Separate Keyan’s quarried rock and stone Buddha, Jianhu’s water landscape, and Luzhen’s developed literary setting. The actual regional scenic plan distinguishes these named components and identifies Yungu/Cloud Bone, Stone Buddha Temple and related rock features. They provide a useful first focus: compare what quarrying left standing with the later religious and scenic use. Luzhen’s relationship to Lu Xun’s fictional world does not make it the writer’s actual former home in central Shaoxing.

Build a route that ends at the right place

Choose a coherent circuit covered by your actual product and allow for internal walking or boats. Keep Anchang as a separate excursion.

Start at the entrance for the product you actually hold and prioritize the stone Buddha/Cloud Bone area before committing to a longer water-and-town circuit. Check whether a boat is needed, where it lands and whether a land return is officially open. Give Luzhen its own pace if included rather than rushing through as a compulsory exit. Anchang Ancient Town is another Keqiao destination with its own transfer and living-town character. A shared district name does not put both at the same gate or justify fitting every component into one late afternoon.

Plan 4–6 hours plus transfer for the stated visitor focus. This is an editorial allowance; queues and a separately described county-city journey need their own buffer.

Admission evidence and product boundaries

Individual sections, combination tickets, boats, performances and transport may differ.

The actual 2025 scenic environmental/planning document and the official local heritage gazetteer were checked for the rock sculptures, scenic components and wider boundary. A planning inventory includes proposed/restored features and is not a current operating map. Present section tickets, combination products, boat inclusion, performance sessions, closures and foreign-passport checkout remain unknown. Ask for Keyan, Jianhu and Luzhen by name, and whether the selected ticket covers the route and transport you need. An old report of free Luzhen evening access is not used as today’s whole-area policy.

A named alternative when the plan changes

If the water connection stops, use only the operator’s confirmed land return and shorten the circuit before losing the exit buffer. If one literary/performance section closes, the open Keyan rock/stone-Buddha focus may still suit a first visit. In unsafe weather, move the large scenic outing. Anchang is a named different fair-weather alternative after its own conditions are checked; Shaoxing Museum is an indoor collection option in Jinghu with a separate journey. Never use a construction/service path to complete a combination-ticket route.
