Why it is worth your time

Fairy Lake combines a serious botanical collection with wooded slopes, specialised gardens and a lake-side landscape. It is Shenzhen’s strongest plant-focused day out, but its size and separated venues make a selective route more rewarding than an attempted complete circuit.

Ticketed garden, separately timed venues

The official ticket page publishes online admission and document-based entry instructions. Its opening page distinguishes paid daytime entry from early-morning and evening free periods. Free garden entry does not mean every glasshouse, museum or specialist garden is open. Check current hours and temporary closure notices for the exact places you want.

The official page lists adult online admission at CNY15, but confirm the current dated price before purchase. Ticket-release timing is not stated. Shuttle services and any religious or museum spaces within the wider area also require their own current checks.

Route and timing

Allow four to five hours. Arrive near the start of the paid-entry period, choose two or three specialist collections, and link them with the lake on maintained paths. Put the earliest-closing venue first and confirm the last internal transport before walking deeper into the garden.

The terrain and humidity make this a substantial outdoor visit. Carry water and sun protection, and do not rely on the evening free period to see specialist venues that close earlier.

If the plan fails

If admission is unavailable, select another date rather than arriving at an assumed free window for a full garden visit. If one collection is closed, ask staff which main routes remain open and shorten accordingly. In heavy rain, lightning or extreme heat, avoid exposed slopes and switch to a confirmed museum; do not continue simply because the entrance remains open.
