Make this route your own

Use these days as a starting point and adjust the pace to suit you. Check the linked attraction guides for reservations and closures, and allow a full day for longer outings. Confirm weather and tickets before setting off.

Choose one route for each day with alternatives below. Only its listed stops are imported. Optional stops stay in the guide, and opening days still need checking for your dates.

DAY1

Civic Center / Lianhuashan / Huaqiangbei

Futian's civic axis

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Morning: choose either Shenzhen Museum's Jintian Road branch or MOCAUP as the main indoor visit; check the exact branch, exhibition and current entry notice.
  2. Afternoon: walk Lianhuashan Park to the hilltop in safe weather, then follow the civic axis. Add the second museum only if energy and last-entry times genuinely allow.
  3. Evening: take a compact Huaqiangbei public-street walk; individual markets and museums keep separate hours.
If the plan changes

For Monday or a venue closure, keep Lianhuashan and the civic exterior and switch museums only after checking the other venue. In heavy rain or extreme heat, drop the hill and Huaqiangbei walk; use one confirmed indoor venue instead.

DAY2

Nanshan Museum / Nantou / Sea World

Nanshan history and Shekou design

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Morning: make Nanshan Museum the main visit and verify any special exhibition separately from ordinary museum entry.
  2. Afternoon: transfer to Nantou Ancient City for its public lanes and one checked indoor heritage venue; do not treat the neighbourhood and museum as one admission.
  3. Late afternoon and evening: continue to Sea World Culture and Arts Center for a specifically checked exhibition, then use Shekou's public waterfront and dining areas.
If the plan changes

If a museum or SWCAC gallery is closed, retain the public Nantou or Sea World streets where open. In severe weather, remove both outdoor sections and visit only confirmed indoor venues; reduce the day to two stops if transfers run long.

DAY3

Overseas Chinese Town / Shenzhen Bay

Choose one OCT theme park, then Shenzhen Bay

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Full day: choose Window of the World OR Splendid China Folk Village, not both. Buy that park's own dated official ticket and confirm session, performances and document requirements.
  2. Evening: if energy, weather and the ticket session allow, finish with the short lake loop at Shenzhen Talent Park rather than attempting the entire bay promenade.
  3. Keep meals and return transport flexible; Happy Valley is another separate ticketed choice, not an included add-on.
If the plan changes

Without a valid ticket, do not expect another OCT component's admission to work. In storms, cancel exposed rides and waterfront walking and use a confirmed museum. If the theme park overruns, skip Talent Park rather than rushing its linear waterfront.

DAY4

Fairy Lake / Dafen / Gankeng

Plants, art and Hakka culture—with easy cuts

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Morning: start at Fairy Lake Botanical Garden with confirmed admission and choose two or three specialist collections before they close.
  2. Afternoon: if transfers and energy allow, continue to Dafen Oil Painting Village for its public art neighbourhood and a checked museum or gallery.
  3. Late afternoon: Gankeng Hakka Town is optional. Add it only when its desired indoor components remain open; otherwise save it for another trip.
If the plan changes

Cut Gankeng first, then Dafen if traffic, heat or rain builds. If Fairy Lake tickets are unavailable, use Dafen and Gankeng as a shorter Longgang day with separate component checks. During storms, replace exposed gardens and lanes with a confirmed museum.

DAY5

Dapeng Fortress

A protected Dapeng Peninsula day

Planner route: A protected Dapeng Peninsula day.

Planner stops: Dapeng Fortress.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Early morning: leave central Shenzhen with a generous road or public-transport buffer and recheck the fortress and indoor venues' current access rules.
  2. Midday: explore gates, lanes and open military residences, then visit the coastal-defence museum if its current arrangements permit.
  3. Afternoon: return before the day becomes rushed. Add a coastal stop only in safe weather and with reliable return transport; do not add another remote peninsula attraction by default.
If the plan changes

The 2022 fortress access answer needs rechecking. Drivers must separately check the latest date-limited vehicle-reservation notice; if no required reservation is available, use confirmed public transport or change dates. In typhoon, heavy-rain or coastal warnings, cancel the peninsula trip and use a city museum.

These are alternatives to consider, not extra stops to add to the same day. Check locations and transfer times before replacing an itinerary stop; a distant excursion may need a full day.
