The visitor focus

A natural stone bridge and waterfall landscape make this a distinct Tiantai mountain excursion. It is not the same entrance as the large developed Tiantai Waterfall route.

A specific route

Shiliang’s defining feature is the natural stone beam above the waterfall, rather than the great height associated with Tiantai’s other waterfall product. The operator describes water passing beneath a granite natural bridge before dropping into the pool below. Read the relationship between rock opening, stream and cliff from the protected viewpoint. A natural bridge is an object to observe, not an invitation to cross its top for a photograph.

Travel to the named Shiliang visitor point, follow permitted waterfall paths and keep higher branches optional.

Entry and component boundaries

The operator’s suggested valley route gives several concrete stages: Small Copper Pot Waterfall, the large named stone seal, streamside pools, a viewing pavilion and woodland before the principal falls. Follow the currently admitted path and allow time to notice how the sound and visibility of water change along the gorge. The adjacent Fangguang Temple supplies a religious layer associated with the Arhats, but its public space and any ceremony must be respected separately. A selective valley-and-main-viewpoint visit needs around two to three hours, excluding the mountain-road approach.

Scenic entry, transport and neighboring temple or mountain sections may have separate conditions.

If access or weather changes

Shiliang and the 325-meter Tiantai Great Waterfall are different sites with different products; neither a general Tiantai name nor a temple ticket combines them automatically. Published waterfall-height figures vary in the reviewed descriptions, so no disputed measurement is needed to explain the visit. Water flow, ice and wet steps are conditions to confirm for the actual date, not an assurance that a dramatic seasonal photograph will repeat. If the upper mountain route is unsuitable, Guoqing Temple offers a named lower-sector cultural alternative with its own transfer, while another waterfall should be chosen only after checking that product independently.

Allow 4–5 hours plus transfer for the stated focus; the route is an editorial planning estimate, with separate district/county transfers outside that allowance.
