A lake-and-hill landscape near Hangzhou Bay makes this a relaxed Haiyan outing. Shore loops and higher viewpoints have different physical demands.

A specific route

Nanbei Lake is a landscape district rather than a single lakeside photo stop. Its north and south waters are divided by a causeway, while the wider scenic area reaches into hills and the Hangzhou Bay coastal setting. Begin with the causeway and one bank, reading the contrast between open water, planted shore and surrounding slopes. A complete circuit, a hill ascent and a coastal excursion are different undertakings; selecting one principal landscape prevents a relaxed lake visit from becoming an unplanned long walk.

Choose a manageable lakeside walk, add one permitted viewpoint only in suitable weather and confirm the return pickup before walking far.

Entry and component boundaries

The dedicated account describes a hillside house associated with the Korean independence leader Kim Koo’s refuge. That history adds a useful second theme to a shore walk, provided the actual building and its admitted route can be confirmed. Give a lake-and-one-component visit roughly three hours, and protect the return to the original transport point. Do not confuse this Haiyan destination with South Lake in central Jiaxing merely because both can be shortened to a southern or northern lake in translation.

Scenic entry, boats, internal transport, temple interiors and activity products may differ.

If access or weather changes

A July 2026 government report identifies South Lake Lawn and Dong Xiaowan commercial street as centers of summer evening activity. It is evidence of the district’s visitor geography and seasonal programming, not proof that the same music, market or evening hours operate in late October. Water sports, resort recreation and historic interiors also need their own product checks. If the hill route cannot be supported, shorten the visit to an accessible bank; Qiyuan Garden offers a named alternative in Haiyan, but it requires a separate urban transfer and its own admission decision.
