The visitor focus
The tidal bore is a natural event whose timing and strength change daily. Yanguan’s historic town adds context, but the water spectacle must follow official observation and safety instructions.
A specific route
Yanguan’s main event is a moving natural phenomenon, so the tide forecast should determine the visit. The official descriptions distinguish the one-line tide at the viewing park from the turn-back tide at Laoyancang and other forms elsewhere along the river. Those names are geographical choices, not successive viewpoints on one short promenade. Select one managed viewing location, establish its date-specific access and arrive with enough margin to remain there rather than chasing the wave by road.
Check the local official tide forecast and designated viewing area, arrive with a buffer and remain behind barriers. Keep the town walk flexible around the actual conditions.
Entry and component boundaries
Use the resort’s separate tide-information, map and ticket functions to distinguish the viewing park from the regenerated town, hotel packages and music programs. Once inside the designated viewing area, keep to managed barriers and the exit route indicated by staff. A quieter river surface before the bore is not permission to step onto the foreshore. Allow an hour or more of waiting and movement around the predicted event, plus a separate allowance for the town; neither the strength of the bore nor a precise arrival time can be guaranteed by a general tourism article.
Town entry, tide-viewing areas, special events and transport may be different products.
If access or weather changes
The operator published partial park works planned for April through September 2026 and an adjusted opening arrangement from 8 April. That dated notice does not prove the project remains closed in late October, nor that every affected section reopened after September; the current boundary remains to be confirmed. If viewing is canceled, Haining Museum or Xu Zhimo’s residence offers a specific cultural alternative in Xiashi. They require their own transport and visitor checks, and a tide-park ticket should not be treated as admission to those institutions.
Allow A full excursion day for the stated focus; the route is an editorial planning estimate, with separate district/county transfers outside that allowance.
