What to look for at Nanji Islands

Beaches, island settlement and marine scenery require a boat-dependent itinerary. A spare day matters more than squeezing in another mainland attraction before departure.

The islands form a protected marine landscape, not an unrestricted resort playground. Pingyang’s official planning material identifies Dashao/Dasha’ao beach and the Sanpanwei area among the named tourism landscapes while describing ecological restoration and resource protection. Choose a small number of permitted visitor areas on the main island. A protected-island designation does not create public access to every shore, offshore islet or reserve zone.

Build a route that ends at the right place

Confirm outward and return ferries, accommodation and the exact pier before committing. Keep the island route short enough to return for the confirmed sailing.

Confirm the exact mainland departure port, outward sailing, return sailing and island accommodation before paying for a stay. Keep the port name and booking in Chinese: different regional ports and similarly named island products can create costly mistakes. Once on the island, first establish the route back to the passenger terminal, then choose Dasha’ao or Sanpanwei according to the operating local transport and daylight. A dawn outing needs a confirmed return to the accommodation and terminal; it should not depend on finding a vehicle after the visit.

Plan An overnight excursion for the stated visitor focus. This is an editorial allowance; queues and a separately described county-city journey need their own buffer.

Admission evidence and product boundaries

Ferry tickets, island access, local shuttles, accommodation and individual recreation products are separate.

The actual county protected-area plan was read for the ecological context and named visitor landscapes. Searches for the current ferry/passport workflow did not produce an accessible first-party visitor notice establishing it. Current departure port availability, fare, release window, luggage rules, island transport and passport registration therefore remain unknown here; third-party price and ID-card instructions were not promoted to verified policy. Ask the actual passenger operator to confirm both directions and whether each booking includes only passage or additional island services.

A named alternative when the plan changes

If the outward ferry is cancelled, stay on the mainland and move the island booking; do not use an unofficial vessel. If return sailings are uncertain, protect an additional buffer before flights or long-distance trains instead of treating the island as a guaranteed same-day loop. A confirmed Wenzhou Museum session or Wuma Street walk is a mainland alternative on another city route. Dongtou is also weather-sensitive coast, so it is not an automatic substitute during rough seas.
