Why this place matters

The Gao family courtyard house provides a domestic-scale counterpoint to imperial Xi’an. Its courtyards and residential architecture deserve a separate visit inside the busy old-city food district.

Allow 1.5–2.5 hours before transport and queues. This is an editorial allowance. Follow the house sequence, look at room hierarchy and architectural detail, and add a confirmed cultural program only if it fits. Leave the neighboring street walk for afterward instead of rushing through the residence en route to dinner.
