5 days / one flexible framework

Five days in Xi'an

Imperial archaeology, city-wall geography and living old-city neighborhoods make Xi’an a strong five-day history base.

Make this route your own

Use these days as a starting point and adjust the pace to suit you. Check the linked attraction guides for reservations and closures, and allow a full day for longer outings. Confirm weather and tickets before setting off.

Choose one route for each day with alternatives below. Only its listed stops are imported. Optional stops stay in the guide, and opening days still need checking for your dates.

Make room for a local experience ↓

Choose your pace

Make room for local life

Choose which visits to shorten or replace. Check the experience’s address and conditions, and arrange meals, shows or workshops separately. The booking planner saves the listed attraction visits.

The food-walk-only choice on day 2 keeps the afternoon or evening flexible. Read the Muslim Quarter food guide before choosing businesses or separate interiors.

DAY1

Lintong

Qin archaeology

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Protect the Army as the principal visit
  2. Add Huaqing only if its separate session and transfer fit; otherwise give it another half-day
If the plan changes

A show product cannot replace a sold-out archaeological ticket.

DAY2

Central Xian

Wall and old city

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Choose one wall section and a substantial Beilin session
  2. Keep the residence and food lanes optional after the main history visit
  3. For a food-focused afternoon or evening, choose the food-walk-only option instead of importing a museum or residence as well. Order with each business; mosque and courtyard access are separate decisions.
If the plan changes

In wet weather retain confirmed interiors and shorten the wall.

DAY3

South city

Southern collections and pagodas

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Choose one museum branch and protect its session
  2. Add one pagoda-area route; do not attempt every institution in the cluster
If the plan changes

Keep branch addresses and independent tickets distinct.

DAY4

One outer-area option

Earlier settlements or Han archaeology

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Choose Banpo or Hanyangling as the substantial excursion
  2. Daming Palace is a separate northern-city landscape alternative
If the plan changes

Do not combine all three archaeological landscapes; use a confirmed indoor day in severe weather.

DAY5

One central or southern route

A flexible cultural finish

These are alternatives. The planner adds only the stops in your chosen option.

Places mentioned in this day's guide:

  1. Choose a central route with the Incident Memorial and one compatible stop
  2. Alternatively give Qinglong Temple and the southern area a quiet half-day
  3. The morning-only Guangren option leaves an afternoon free. Check the Hanfu provider’s address, preparation, session and outfit-return arrangements separately; the city route does not book that service.
If the plan changes

These are choices; keep departure-station travel protected.

Browse more Xi'an attractions for an alternative. Check its reservations, opening days and travel time before adding it to your plan.

Full guides for possible swaps

These are alternatives to consider, not extra stops to add to the same day. Check locations and transfer times before replacing an itinerary stop; a distant excursion may need a full day.
