Imperial archaeology, city-wall geography and living old-city neighborhoods make Xi’an a strong five-day history base.
Arrange the city by geography
Keep the Lintong mausoleum sites separate from the old city. Museum branches and the Hanyangling excursion need precise addresses. A high-speed arrival at Xi’an North still requires an onward city transfer.
The five-day route groups nearby visits and protects long excursions from museum-heavy city days. Check current transport times when setting your own pace. Confirm the station, exit, last return connection and original passport requirements when buying rail tickets. Keep a Chinese destination name and address saved offline for the last leg.
Weather and a workable pace
Spring and autumn usually suit long outdoor visits. Summer can be hot; winter is cold, and dust or rain can reduce wall and ruin-park comfort. Check the forecast before outdoor days and swap them with a confirmed indoor booking when needed. Avoid scheduling two distant districts merely because both are inside the same municipal boundary.
Tickets, documents and payment
Check what your ticket includes before booking. Museums, boats, performances and other attractions within a larger scenic area may have separate tickets, opening hours and reservation rules. Use the individual visit guides for details, and contact the venue if the hours or booking arrangements you need are not listed.
Carry the original passport used for reservations and keep confirmation credentials offline. If an official form does not offer a passport field, establish the assisted channel directly with the venue before leaving your hotel; a foreign card or overseas phone number should not be assumed to work in every mini-program. Have a second payment method and some renminbi cash for small purchases, and ask the hotel to help with a Chinese phone call if necessary.
About the attraction listings
The complete provincial workbook attached in May 2026 yields 93 Xi’an rows. Its two March 2026 4A additions are already incorporated and are not appended twice. City Wall and Beilin are one rated unit with two source addresses; the Muslim Quarter is a supplementary public-district record. The linked directory is the source for names and ratings; planning routes and visit durations are editorial.
